Ever since I installed Windows XP, DVD Decrypter and smartripper shows that my Hitachi 16X DVD ROM Drive is a 1X Drive. I have ASPI 4.60 installed, I have no problems with aspi or ripping except that it rips at 1X.
My DVD Drive is on a seperate IDE controller and is set to Master. Can somebody please help.

The Future is yet to be seen, expect the unexpected, and you will see the unbelievable.

1x means you have 1 dvd drive installed. it has nothing to do with speed
as for ripping speed make sure your controller is in"dma" mode and not "pio" . in device manager under ide ata/atapi controller, select properties for each one(primary, secondary, etc.) under advanced settings make sure the tranfer mode is set to"dma if available".Where I walk, I walk alone. Where I fight, I fight alone.
