  1. I have an Plextor writer 12x24X40 speed, and I planning to buy a DVD writer. My question is should I keep the Plextor or I can do the same thing in DVD writer (pioneer) the same I did with Plextor.

    Thanks

  3. I plan on keeping my Plextor 121032A as well as my new Ricoh RW5125a. Reviews I have read have indicated the CD-R/RW reading and writing do not work as fast and do not produce quite as clean a CD, especially audio, as a true CD-RW drive. As far as writing to CD media, how can you go wrong with a Plextor. Also, DVD writers were designed with DVD media in mind. CD media compatibility is a throw-in.
    Any other opinions?

I'll just echo everybody else's opinion - keep the CD-RW for burning CDs, and just use the DVD burner for DVDs. I've heard that software support for writing CD-R/RW in DVD burners is still less than for CD burners. In particular cdrdao apparently doesn't yet work with most DVD writers, so if you use VCDEasy to make VCD/SVCDs you'd have to create your bin/cue files and burn them with some other program. That's mainly a concern if you buy an OEM drive that doesn't come with any software, most retail packages seem to come with Nero.
