Don't know if this will help anybody else out there but I will share my findings:

I have an Alba DVD103 and have been having trouble with my encodes when played on my DVD player. Every-so-often, video framerate would slow down whilst audio carried on (causing desync) and then framerate would speed up rapidly and catch audio up again. This happened at the same part of the movie and seemed to get worse the further into the movie it got.

I was encoding 23.976fps NTSC film using TMPGEnc with the NTSC film template loaded for making a standard VCD right (bitrate 1150)? Well, my system don't like that bitrate setting one bit! If I encode using the 'Automatic VBR (CQ_VBR)' bitrate setting it plays them perfectly - no skips at all!! The only downside to this is that your resulting mpeg can vary in size. A small price to pay for disks that play. Try it. It may work for you too.

  2. Thanks for sharing that ... have you added it to the reports for your player (see link on left 'DVD Players'). Most people who have your player will look there.
