  1. I've been following Doom9's guide to encoding with CCE but I've run into a bit of a snag. According to his guide you should set CCE to one pass VBR with a mininum bitrate of 0 and a maximum bitrate of 9800. However, when I try to author the mpeg in DVD workshop, I exceed the maximum allowable bitrate. So I set the maximum to 9000. Now although I step through the mpeg manually, and nothing has been encoded higher than 9000, every program that I open the mpeg in still sees it at 9800. (I've tried DVD Workshop and DVD Patcher) I've reencoded it several times now with different bitrates and they always come out as 9800. I'm really trying to avoid having DVD workshop reencode the MPEG if I can. Thanks for your help.

What are you talking about? Use Bitrate Viewer to see what the max rate really is. What are you using DVDPatcher for? The bitrate that it shows is only the nominal bitrate (but it is really of no use, although some programs use this number erroneously). Use DVDPatcher to change this number to 5000kbps and see if DVDWS likes it okay.
