the one that matches your output would be a likely guess ...

    4pin most likely

S-Video is NOT a composite signal on a different plug. You will need to get an S-Video to COMPOSITE VIDEO converter, or, you can go buy a VCR with S-Video IN. Don't ask me where to get this converter... I've never heard of one (but then, I've never had to look for one, either).

  4. Hello Phat J, how about a scart connector you get these with S-Video plug and with an in-out switch on them for less than 2 €

I bought one in a local electronics shop.

s-video to composite convertors are very common and about 8$ -20$

  6. In general, when you set your video card to output (tv), you can specify S-video or composite.

    Good luck

I was wondering if you could just resistively combine the separate signals in an S-Video to composite video converter. It appears that you can.

  8. If you use s-video cable you will also need audio cables as S-video carries no audio. You can connect S-video to scart , Scart in the back of your tv of course, you may also have to set your Tv AV channel to S-video in. If you don’t get these settings rite you get no colour. The S-video to scart converter also has two audio inputs. if you use composite it carries audio and video and is less fuss. I hope this helps.

yes -- but i noticed some of the ones sold in places like walmart (TAKE OVER THE UNIVERSE) and radio hack only output B&W as they are running straight through y .. i dont know what you need - i think its two resistors and a cap if i recall -- its like video isolation transformers, its easy to build your own.

i went to radio shack and looked at s-video to composite connectors, the damn thing costs like 15 bucks canadian for a stupid little connector, it
wasnt even the right one, i need one thats a male end s-video and a female end composite, all they had was one with a female end s-video,
there was also a cord they had but it was $30 :P
damn theres gotta be a cheap one somewhere

and i dont have a scart connection so i cant use that, and as for the audio, my soundcard is already outputting to the stereo by the tv so theres no problems there, i just need a cord or connector for the video :P

    thanx everyone for ur input

Sorry but you will need that convertor. I thought is was a rip off to pay for it too but hey it works. Just buy the shortest s-video cable availible and buy a long composite cable because it is cheaper.

    ViperXT:
does the picture quality look ok? or does it depend on ur video card?

i already have a long enough composite cable to run to the other room where the tv and vcr is, so all i will need is that little connector

The video quality is decent. It can be a headache navigating through windows or the web. But it really works well with movies and games. DivX looks great on TV because the lower resolution of the TV is less revealing. PLus you can run your games at only 640 x 480 and they look awesome.
