  1. Okay I have read virtually ever singel help guide. I am more confused now then I was when I started a couple weeks ago.

I have downloaded almost every single file on the net relating to this hobby.

I basically need to know peoples opinion on the BEST guide to follow doing this:

Downloaded a Move off a public ftp used Winrar to extract the files.

This movie is Super Troopers which is an AVI.
Its extracted fine right now and ready to be encoded correct ?

So I open up TMPGencand encode the file

I am still cofused which bitrate I should use since I want to watch it on my dvd player at home and not my computer.

Anyways that is not really the point.......

After I encode the file then I am suppose to author it correct ?

I have the general idea on how to do this but what I am looking for is a direct link to the best guide to do this process.
I have read them all and not sure which isbetter suited for me.

Avi - DVDR disc -to play on my dvd player at home.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Yes I am a newbie !

  2. I'd also like some help with this question as well. The last DivX movie I converted to SVCD using the default TMPGEnc options looked like a low grade VCD.

Well if its now an AVI, then yes. But I would check it for junk frames in Vdub first.

You don’t need to change anything, just click the load button and choose PAL or NTSC VCD template, that set's everything up for you.

Yes most of the popular Burning programs can also make VCD

Usually this is located in the program under "help"

  4. Except it wasn't crap in. I don't remember the exact specs from the movie, but it looked near DVD quality in its DivX form.

Then did you load a SVCD template, or use something non standard.

All the DVD rips I have seen converted to SVCD are just fine.
