  1. Hi all. Ok this was my first effort to demux an mpeg1 file. I have to do that - I think - because I want to edit it down & QT pro won't edit mpeg1. BTW, is there *any* Mac video editor that will work w/ mpeg1? (please lordie!) Anyways I got bbDEMUX - it went through the steps OK. The extracted audio is fine. QT pro won't open the xtracted video. Any helps or tips in gen oon how to most easily edit mpeg1 files will be MUCH APPRECIATED.

  2. What kind of edit you want to do on the MPEG-1 file? If it is complex editing involving keeping the audio with the video, you best convert it to Quicktime first and then edit.

What can I use to extract a .DAT file from a VCD & save as QT? I used MacVCD to do that but the result was a QT file that QT could not edit - so I assume it was mpeg1. So my next step was to demux bbDEMUXd. But as I say, the resultant file from the video stream, suffix .m1v could not be opened with QT pro. ---- Any answers, additional steps etc for that process apprecaited. And for a simpler one - you say "convert the mpeg1 file to QT" - but How? If I use "export file" w/ QT I still get a file that QT can't edit. Thanks![/quote]

  4. To convert mpeg-1 to .mov (both video and audio in one pass) you could try Cleaner, or ffmpegX (mpeg-1 to .AVI DivX, then run DivX Doctor II to create a .mov container).
