  1. Please help this newbie!! I have successfully captured an AVI multisegmented file using a PCTV card and third party software as discussed in this forum. However, I have two major questions that I have not found (or understood) the answers as posted on this forum:
#1-I don't really understand the full capabilities of Virtualdub. If I want to dub the captured file (filtering, etc), how do I do it ? I can open the file and set the parameters, but what starts the process and do I have to save the dubbed file or does it replace the original file ?
#2-How do I encode the multisegmented file in TMPGEnc ? Must I individually encode each segment or is there a way to set up the entire file ?

  2. After loading you muti-segment file, you will want to edit and use any filters , then you want to frameserve to your encoder ( TMPGEnc for eg ). This process crates a nominal . vdr file for feeding from VDub to encoder, so you don't have to re-save you redited AVI as another multi-segment , compressed AVI. Search and read the How-to's on frameserving, they are very good.

    Vdub
SAVE AVI to save a new copy with any filters you have applied. Use append avi segment to join.

    TMPGEnc
Encode them all separately then use Merge&cut to join

  4. Kingjohn,

Your avatar is very hypnotic, especially when listening to a nice beat. I totally forgot why I came to this thread ... just watching that skeleton groove.
