I have what Windows says is a 715MB AVI, but Nero says it's 733MB, and last but not least, some file splitter says it's 699MB. I want to burn this to a CD, it's in MPEG 4 encoding (DivX) and is one complete AVI. I tried using Nero and all I got were weird colors when I tried to play it back in Windows Media Player, but the audio worked. Oh yeah, I do have the correct codecs because I've seen the movie before. How can I fit this on one CD? Can I burn it without having to use mode2 so it's just a single file on a CD in it's original format?

Convert with TMPGEnc, then use Merge & Cut to split in half for 2 CD's
Seeing and editing are different, Install the Nimo codec pack to make sure you have the right ones. -
Oh
That's assuming you want it as a VCD, I just read your post again, and its beginning to sound like your happy to put it on a disk as an AVI ?
If this is so, then you can use Vdub to re-encode the video or audio slightly lower the bitrate to get the file size down
Vdub > full processing mode
Vdub > compression > codec (Same as original) > settings > bitrate
Audio > direct stream copy (if its MP3 already, else use MP3 codec)
SAVE AVI
if its still a little oversize lower the bitrate a little more
