  1. Hey guys, i've just re-installed XP on my computer today, and ive had.... a number of problems, One of them being with my capture device or virtual dub.
First things first. im using a Win TV PCI Go! under windows xp. im using version 1.4.10 of VirtualDub and im using the Video Composite as my source.
When in capture mode, the preview i get is REALLY dark, when i attempt to change the settings under Video > Source > Device Settings all the brightness/hue/contrast/saturation etc, are grayed out, and i cannot move them. "Auto" is ticked and i cannot untick it. I've tried such things as turning overlay off then trying to change the brightness but still grayed out.
Colors are FINE under DScaler, please help if possible!
here is a pic of what i mean:

Sounds like you need new drivers, the card has not been recognized as having those adjustments.

    Why XP

  3. Hmm, well i have the leatest drivers (From the hauppage website) so.... the new drivers are to blame, can someone link me to some older ones. (THAT ARE COMPATABLE WITH XP)

and the reason im using XP is because i refuse to use the unstable shite that is windows 98, no offence

Windows 98 SE, is the most stable of all OS, I hope your not trying to tell me that XP (V1) is the best.

Yes, dump XP to cure the problem...

  7. I know I am a newbie in dubbing but I got to jump in here. The problem is not XP. XP is a very stable base if done as a full install and not an upgrade. I run Xp and the AVI's I have created with Virutal Dub certainly do not have a brightness problem. See below. I chose a scene similar to the one given, an inside shot with a bright light out side. As you can see the image is fine. If I were to question anything it probally be the Win TV PCI Go. Just my 2 cents worth.

  8. I know its not a prob with xp.... but it doesnt make sense that drivers that i USED TO USE (before i re-installed) now suddenly have the option of changing colors/brightness grayed out. ive tried installing THREE different versions of the drivers, one on the cd, one that i downloaded from direct connect and the most recent ones.... and i am certanly NOT ditching xp

  10. Sorted it now peeps! I tried to re-install the ones from the CD using the inf file.. and its got a different "source" section

Although when i goto "file > capture avi" it brings up a message saying cannot find the desired hardware... trying others...
It seems its trying to (according to the video list when in capture mode) use the Microsoft WDM image capute (WIN32)
any idea how to set the default caputre device?

You may need to change that every time you use it

  12. You need to give Hauppauge a call and ask them what to do, as they made the drivers.
