I was reading in th faq section that you can edit out logos from the video im about to encode, but it is very vague about how to do it. What settings in Virtual Dub do I change to remove the logos?

These are not standard Virtual Dub filters. You have to download a filter which you then tell virtual dub to aply to your video....The one I belive you want is called "logoaway", the version I have is by K Woidon.
Thought I got it through links here on VCDhelp. -
Thanks, but I am dumb when it comes time to this. so I will ask you. When I add the filter and save the new avi, while it is processing the logos are still there. Is this normal or do I have to do something else. Also, by doing this will I lose overall quality?

Are you doing a full processing or direct stream..ect ?...You must do full process and load and enable filter. When you are setting up filter it has a preview feature that will allow you to see what the setting will do.

Is there any settings within the filter I have to change because the logos are still there in preview mode
-
Yes...You have to set position and size of place that logo is...where is yours??
-
If you have added filter goto filters then logoaway then configure....
On right side under advanced click visible border...then show preview...you can leave preview open and you should see a doted outline where logo away area is.. you need to move it and size it to cover logo. Do that by adjusting Logo border position... x,y (location) on mine top left corner is 0,0..it will move in preview window. Adjust area size by changing x,y under logo border size.....DONT forget to uncheck visable border..before you click on OK.
If logo is in a letter box type black border then select solid fill....otherwise UGLARM works anywhere by bluring area with surrounding pixels.
If you have two logos ....you may have to run once for each logo...unless you can use two of same filter...dont know about that??...experiment and have fun. -
Ok, Thank you for all your hep, but I just have one more question. When it tells me Im about to save a huge uncompressed file should I just say ok or should I compress it?
-
You should compress it , because an uncompressed avi gets huge and needs a very fast HD for playing back, you calculate it by yourself:
Framsesize*3*fps+audio bitrate=videobitrate
example:
720*576*3*25/1024+192/8 about 30+ MByte/sec,i.e 1 min of footage needs around 1.8GByte HD space. -
Ireguardless of your HD size or speed I'd compress...You can click on compression and set it up for any of the codecs you have installed on your machine.....And I'm not sure but ....if you are going avi to avi....you may be able to do a direct stream...(i said before that U must use full process because I was using it on a mpg file and direct would not work) that would keep compression from original clip...Any1 know if thats right.???
