  1. My computer crashed and i was forced to restart whilst downloading cky3, of which i had 400 mb of 450, and seeing as how im on a standard 56kbps dial up modem i was very near to completeing the file which i have been downloading for several days now. I am running kazaa lite on windows xp pro.

Is there any possible way to recover this file? i dont see how a 400mb file can just disappear in a restart?

Please help!!!!! any answers greatly appreciated!

  3. If all you did was reboot, the file should still be there, restart kaaza and it should continue downloading from where it left off.

  5. The .dat will still be in your download file waiting to be resumed.
Make sure your Tools > Options > Traffis > Download file is correct.

oh...and snipez <'I'd rather have Kazaalite anyday(even with its faults) than crappy WinMx.
I used Winmx along with all the others when file sharing first surfaced (Napster,Bearshare,Limewire etc) .To actaully get connected to someone that is'nt queued a mile long,is near to impossible.Kazaa might not be the fastest ,but at least you get connected.
I have a high speed modem and while I type this I have the download limit by-passed and d\l'ing 58 files with no probs.

  6. sorry, i forgot this post was here lol

anyway: i just restarted the pc normally, because it had become slow for some reason, and i didnt pause the download. when i come back on, its gone. i looked for the .dat file in my downloads folder and it was not there. 450mb just disappeared in a restart.

I warn anybody using kazaa lite the pause thier downloads before you restatrt or turn off your computer - even if its never happened to you before. its very annoying!

  7. To be honest uk_vcd ,I've done over 200 encodes and conversions and have about 230 files in progress on Kazaalite and I've never lost any or had to pause it or anything.

  8. Damn, that really sucks. I guess that since the .dat file was gone, you couldn't restore your download? Ouch. Earlier today, I deleted a .dat file for a video clip by mistake when I was copying/pasting/changing the extension to preview it. Sucked ass.

I don't think it would have gone to the Recycle Bin: Kazaa deleted it, he didn't; when you cancel a download, the in progress .dat file doesn't go to the Recycle Bin, it just gets permanently deleted.

Haha... nice. Didn't think of that. I always shift+delete everything... I don't know why. It's pretty dumb, but I do it. My left and right ring fingers are mapped to shift and delete, and my right index handles y. I almost never have problems with it, and usually it just saves time and HD space, but sometimes I do stupid things like what I said above. Thanks for the quote this last post... I obviously need them
