OK, I am trying to burn a DVD from avi. This is how I have converted the .avi file! I use TMPGEnc registered version.
MPEG-2 - Resolution = 720x480 - 29.97fps - Constant Bitrate = 3000 - NTSC
My GOP Structure equals this - IBBPBBPBBPBBPBBP - # of I Pic = 1 - # of P Pic = 5 - # of B Pic = 2 - Output Interval of Sequence Header = 1 GOP - MAX # of frames in GOP = 12 - Output bitstream for edit closed GOP is checked - Detect Scene change is checked also.
I convert my file to MPEG with these settings. When I import the .mpg into DVDit Pro, and try to burn the file(s), I get an error about my sequence header GOP is not followed by another GOP or something. Please help me, and tell me if I am converting the files wrong! Madgame24@angelfire.com

Do you have something against the standard DVD template ?
DVD NTSC (MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps CQ 65, Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps) -
I think I answered this in another forum but here is goes again.
For some reason DVDit Pro doesnt like the MPEG files coming from TMPGE because TMPGE puts the name of the program in the first line of the file. There is an easy work around. Just go back to TMPGE to "MPEG Tools" in the file menu. Select the cut/join tab. Then cut off the very first frame of the MPEG that you just encoded with TMPGE. Now DVDit wont give you that stupid error!
Enjoy!

Humm, you specify a GOP structure that is 16 frames long, then you tell it that the number of frames in a GOP should be 12 MAX. In short, you have confused the program.
Stick with a 3-4 GOP structure (even for NTSC). Most DVD's made today have a 3-4 structure. That is a IBBPBBPBBPBB (or, IPBPBBPBBPBB). Also, don't check "close every GOP", since this isn't really necessary for DVD.
Only use 3Mbps CBR if you are trying to cram over 3 hours of video onto one disk. Try using 3Mbps as an AVERAGE and use VBR (but takes more time).
