I have for the most part been using the standard vcd/svcd templates in tmpgenc to encode. However i am now experimenting using some other templates like kvcd 1-disc version which for pal is 704x576 with some decent results. My qustion though is if the source is576x320,do you get any benefit out of resizing upwards,or should i be encode with same output as input resolution. My player should accept it as it is xvcd/xsvcd capable...thanx in advance ......spaceman

I presume you mean 352x576 ? as 576x 320 is often used to encode
DIVIX movies in widescreen, and can look awful if resized to anything
    higher than VCD specs 352x288(240).

Do a test encode, stop after a few minutes and look at
the result. If you are happy with the KVCD template, then
go for it. Quality is in the eye of the user.

  3. Hi spaceman:

As they say: "Quality is in the eye of the user"
So download these samples, and decide for yourself

These samples were all encoded with the latest KVCD PLUS templates, with audio encoded at 160Kbps with Dolby Surround.

You might want to take a look at the SKVCD template.
