  1. Please people can you help. I currently use pioneer dvd 104 and authoring software ulead dvd workshop. I always use TDK brand DVD-Rs.
The first disc i authored was a birthday party DVD, i did a basic menu and chapter select screen, I burned and tested on my PS2, PC DVD ROM and stand alone Hitachi DV-250E, it worked fine execpt video playback was jerky, I then dicovered that i burned an NTSC disc from PAL video, I amended it to PAL then burnt again and video playback was fine only on the hitachi standalone menu buttons would not highlight at all, although the dvd would navigate using guess work. My chapter buttons and links are NOT too close together it just wont highlight so i cant see what im doing, however oddly the DVD highlights buttons fine on my PS2, Mates Sony DVD player and PC DVD software.
Has anyone a clue why the buttons dont hightlight cause this has happened with every disc i have produced since. It works fine on any other DVD player but not my Hitachi standalone. Im fed up of guess-navigating and would like my menus to work FOR ME.

Please dont ignore this as ive notced several other people have has this problem and have been ignored.

    Kind Regards

  2. Unfortunately, not all stand alone players play DVD-R's well. Have you checked the compatibility list to see what others have said about your player?
You may also want to try some different media. The TDK's are typically very good, but I often find the Pioneer DVD-R's to be more reflective (IMO) and more compatible (IMO) than anything else.

  3. thing is with NTSC the buttons highlight okay.

I have also tried verbatium, datasafe gen 3 and bulkpaq gen 3, all do the same, no highlight.

There s not mention of this problem on the compatability chart all it says is that the hitachi is FULLY compatable with DVD-Rs. I mean the video on the disc is fine, so its not a reflectivity problem, im not sure what to do. maybe DVD workshop isnt writing the disc properly? then again the buttons work on any other player. im stumped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. It must just be an issue with the way Workshop authors the DVD that your player doesn't like.
