  1. hey everyone, i've been trying to figure this out for sometime now, i really need to get this. so pleaaaase help

can anyone help me out with making buttons in encore work in my dvd menu like the buttons in the play station 3 display menu.

like where it has "user - settings - photo - video - game - " etc. and all the buttons move together as one when you select different things, but the one selected always stays in the center of the menu. its the buttons as a whole that move left or right to select another one. for example on basic dvd menus there would be a button on the top right and a button on the bottem left lets say. if you use your remote and press the right button the highlighted selection would move from the bottom left to the top right, the buttons would not change their location. but i need the highlighted selection to NOT change its location and have the buttons themselves change with the one being selected always in the center of the screen.

i hope you can understand what i mean, well if you can't here:

heres a youtube video of the ps3 display, i want it like its setup at 18 seconds and on.

i work in adobe CS3 Suite so i have all the programs like premiere/photoshop/encore/after effects and so on. i realise some people use different programs so i'm open to everything, if you know of away to acheive this in a different program please tell me how

i appreciate your time in reading this and helping me out
    thanks so much.

You can only do this type of effect by using lots of video clips and switched menus. Basically, you create a menu with the buttons int he default position. If the viewer presses the button to go right, you play a short video clip of the buttons moving left, then link that to the next menu. You will have to create menu screens for each button state, and video transitions that move from button to button. It is not impossible, but it will take time and planning to make sure you have every combination worked out, every asset built, and every combination of button press put into Encore.

There may also be some delay in how it operates. But gunslinger is correct.

  6. DVD technology is linear. Pressing a button takes you to another portion of the disc which, in this case, would need to be a video track. You won't nearly have the same functionality. Remember, DVD is archaic - its 20 year old technology coming out of CD- ROM.
