    I have just bought a DVR-104 with firmware v1.20 installed. I am looking for your opinions on the best firmware to install. I have read v1.31 works better with less expensive media and allows 2x burn on Ritek. Don't care so much about the 2x burn on cheaper media just want the best compatability with them.

    well i am using still 1.2 on 4 drives and have no issues , ill get around to upgrading it before 4x media hits the market ..

    I have had trouble with white top Princo RW. Was wondering if updated firmware would help.

    You should definately get the latest version. Read the warning issued about new DVD-R destroying your drive and rendering it inoperable.

    When the 4x media come out and you try to burn one in the A04 even if it's at a lower speed the laser can stop working or somethign to that effect. Read the warning issued on the Pioneer support site for the drive.
