  1. Finally, after nearly 4 months, I finally figured out how to play SVCDs without skipping on my DVD player (jvc xv-s60bk). Well, I usually would convert the BIN/CUE files with vcdgear to a mpeg2 file, but all I did this time was burn the image with nero (track-at-once @ 4x) and it worked perfectly. I am not sure how you can convert an mpg file into bin/cue format, but I believe programs such as CDRwin or VCDEasy will do it.

Well, its just another suggestion for all you people who are struggling with bitrate problems on your DVD player. It worked for me, I am not sure how, but I assume VCDGEAR must skrew up the mpg.

Good luck on your player :P

If you have any questions just add a post and I will check it out.

Read vcdgear's documentation. It only supports VCDS not SVCDS. It may work on some SVCDS but it will often corrupt the mpg. If you want to extract the mpg from the bin file you need to use a disk imaging tool or mount the image and copy it to your hard drive.

A bin and cue file is simply a disk image. It can be anything, in this case its a SVCD. To create a bin and cue of a SVCD from an mpg you need a SVCD authoring program. Click on the Author link and pick one. If you have an already burnt SVCD disk then you can create a disk image using pretty much any burning software, even if it doesnt support SVCDs.

I don't think any of this has to do with bitrate though. Regardless of whether you burn the disk image or extract the mpg and re-author, the bitrate of the mpg doesnt change.
