I think DVD2SVCD is great and I've gotten it to work beautifully for MPEG2 SVCD's. Unfortunately, my set-top DVD player doesn't handle SVCD's correctly. It shows a folder/file tree instead of playing the movie. If I select the MPG file manually, it plays just fine, but then the chapter next/prev navigation doesn't work and I can't even press Pause.
So, I thought a solution might be to make MPEG1 VCD's which my DVD player seems to like better. I changed DVD2SVCD to output MPEG1 and reran my project, but the resulting BIN/CUE file was 913mb and wouldn't fit on an 80min CD.
When I look at the raw files, it looks like it should fit. The MP2 audio file created by BeSweet is 80mb, the MPV video file created by TMPGenc is 701mb, and the multiplexed MPG file created by bbMPEG is 793mb.
But, when VCDImager gets ahold of the MPG file, it turns it into a 913mb monsterI tried using VCDeasy to manually burn the MPG file to VCD and a warning message said "autopadding requires to insert additional 112,157,844 zero bytes into MPEG stream (due to 406,369 unaligned packets of 406,370 total)"
Well, that certainly explains why the file got 120mb bigger, but the question is WHY did it need to autopad? How can I prevent it from doing that? With all those unaligned packets, does that mean DVD2SVCD created the MPG file wrong, or is VCDImager reading the MPG wrong?
I've started doing a few experiments with MUXing with different bbMPEG output settings within DVD2SVCD and that seems to have an impact. Originally I chose the defaults for MPEG-1 Program Stream and bbMPEG created a good sized MPG file but VCDImager padded it too big.
Next I chose the defaults for VCD Program Stream and bbMPEG created two MPG files - one 794mb and other 80mb - but this time VCDImager did NOT do much padding. It sounds like setting that just made bbMPEG do the padding.
Is there a setting somewhere in between that will produce a <800mb MPG file with not a lot of padding? I'm a little hesitant to try any other experiments because the bbMPEG Output Settings screen says "WARNING! You can seriously screw things up if you change any of the values above. Don't say I didn't warn you!"
Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me!

Hey!!!
I have the same problem, what is the answer???
Please!!!! -
DVD2SVCD is an excellent all in one program for making SVCD's. I never have a problem making SVCD's with this program, but I've had zero luck with VCD's. I've noticed that VCDXBUILD is not avaiable when making a VCD. It only shows up when making a SVCD. I'm using verison 1.0.9 build 3. So if I select VCD, only VCDImager shows up. Is this normal?
Any of you guys have luck making a VCD with this program? Any particular settings that I might have overlooked? I'm using one of the guides for newbies, but several options are not talked about in the guide. Any suggestions are greatly appreicated.
