avi to mpeg troubles

every time i convert avi 2 mpeg using virtualdub &TMPGeng , i then use NTI cd maker to make a vcd . What really gets on my tits is when i try to watch a film with sound and NO picture .why does this happen , is there a way around it

Make sure you have the codec, Best install the Nimo codec pack.

Try this;

TMPGEnc
Select options > environmental settings
click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4

i had the same problem, sound but no image. You're missing a codec.
Install this on your comp and tell me if it works now
