  1. I captured a television program using the Picvideo MJPEG video codec, and the MPEG Layer 3 audio codec with the intent to compress with DivX. As the movie progresses, the audio and video get out of sync. I followed the guide on how to fix sync. It suggested to convert my captured .AVI to .MPG, and split to the audio and video. After converting the file to .MPG, I noticed that the audio and video were no longer desynced. Please note, I did nothing to fix the audio/video sync problem, it seemed to fix itself after the conversion to .MPG.

After deciding that the hand of god has fallen upon me (Anyone know what the real explanation of this is?), I decided to convert the .MPG to divx. After reviewing the divx file, the audio/video sync problem was fixed, but I decided that the video quality was unacceptable.

Then I tried converting directly from the capture file to divx, and although the quality was much better, the audio and video were still out of sync. Anyone know how I can get the audio/video in sync, and retain the original quality of the capture.

    Thanks!

You probably shouldn't compress the audio on it's way in during the capture, and do all your compression following the initial capture.

I am guessing you're getting out of synch due to your hardware not being able to keep up.
