Hi
Hope this is the right forum for this question. I am having difficulty prserving the aspect ratio of 16:9 footage. Essentialy, I want to export to tape, but even though I have placed the footage into a new 4:3 project in Premiere 5 and selected "Maintain Aspect Ratio" my camcorder (Canon zr20, consumer), the camcorder reads the data as 16:9, and as a result will not "un-squish" the footage, even though it appears as widescreen (complete with black bars at top and bottom of image) in the Premiere timeline. I have tried saving the project, rendering the project, but no soap. The closest I did come was saving the project as a new .mov file, but that came out all screwy! You can view a screenshot of it here:

As you can see, the picture is all screwed up. I have tried different compressors, quality, etc., but no luck. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Chris
