I have a JVC XV-S65 standalone DVD-Player. For the first two months, it played all of my (S)VCD's perfectly. I encoded my AVI's using TMPGEnc, burned the encoded MPG's to CD-R's and then put them in my player and they worked. For the past two months, I've been performing the same process of encoding and burning and then attempting to play, but to no avail. When I put the (S)VCD in my player, the movie plays for a couple of minutes and then "pixelates." Little squares start forming all over the screen, multiply, and then the movie eventually stops completely. Plus the sound becomes choppy... I've tried probably 20 (S)VCD's over the last two months, and none have worked. In the beginning, they all worked...
Any ideas as to how to fix this? Is there a setting that is causing the problem? Is my player broken?
My only idea is that it could be the CD-R's I'm using. But I have Memorex 80 min. CD-R's, which should work fine.
Would a new DVD-Player fix the problem? I'm thinking of possibly getting a cheap Apex AD-1500 or something.
Thanks in advance for your advice.![]()

My Scan DVD did the same thing, burning onto blue discs helped but eventually it died & wouldn`t read anything.
Does it read DVD`s ok ?
I replaced the drive in my unit for the pioneer one out of my PC.
Plays everything perfect now & reads any type of disc -
As i said, the problem was the drive unit in the DVD player.
I cut the front out of my DVD player ( a bit extreme i know ! ) and fitted a standard ide pc DVD drive into the unit.
It works better than ever !
