How Can I Fix Audio From Pausing?

I was wondering if there's a way to fix pausing audio using TMPGencoder?
It's not terrible pausing, just every once in a while people are talking and i'll miss a word here and there in their sentences. Any idea how i can fix this lil problem? Thank You

are you converting a divx to svcd?
and the audio just sticks for a sec then continues playing?

No, it's an avi/divx file, CryptKeeper. The movie already has the pausing problem. Like i mentioned before, lets say a person is speaking in the movie. While they're speaking i'll miss a word here and there while they're speaking.
I.E. "Im going to the store." Lets say this sentence is apart of the dialogue in the movie. Of that sentence i'll catch something like this..."Im going the store." It's like a tiny gap or something. Im sorry i can't explain it that well.
Since the movie is an avi/divx file, i should probably fix it first with virtual dub or something beforehand. I thought that maybe i could fix this problem while im encoding the movie with TMPG?
