I have movies like Men in Black II and Panic Room and i believe they have DivX codecs in them, but either way they're both AVI files. They work perfect and look great in my Windows Media Player. But as soon as i go to encode the movies into MPEG-1 so i can make VCD's out of them, that's when purple areas/spots start appearing in my movies and even more-so during dark parts of the movies.
I know that movies lose a lil quality when converting from DivX/AVI to MPEG, but that shouldn't be the reason for these purple areas to be popping up in my movies right/wrong??
I dont have that "hack" Angel Potion crap, so that's not the problem.
I have asked a few people about this and no one seems to be able to explain or how to help me to fix this lil issue....?
Can someone please help me out please?????![]()

TMPGEnc
Select options > environmental settings
click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectDraw" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4 -
I tried doing what you said KingJohn, but those settings aren't there for me? I have the newest version of TMPG and when i go to options and settings and click on the VFAPI plug-in, there's only some options i can check off and there was no "Direct Draw" to check. I can right-click each option and set a priority but there's only highs and lows, no numbers or multiples of 4.
The closest thing i see to what you want me to do is going to options and setting the "Task Priority" but i can also only set this to high, normal or idle.
Im completely stumped here now. On the VFAPI plug-in tab at the bottom, they give me a website i can go to, to download extra plug-in features, butim really not sure which one to download.
Someone who knows what im talking about, pleas help me here....? -
It's "DirectShow File Reader"
and I've found that alot of DivX files use that AngelPotion S...
change the priority on DirectShow to the highest
in other words put DirectShow at the top of the list

Yes its the DirectShow Multi Media File Reader. If you have not installed it you can download it from the main site.

VFAPI plug-in for TMPGEnc project file (342KB)
After downloading, unzip to same folder as TMPGEnc.exe is stored, then run "TMPGEncVFP_Install.bat". -
Been having the same purple problem for a while now. Just downloaded but the TMPGEnc and the VFP pluging. Maybe the problem was because they were different versions.
Installing now to see if it works. -
IT WORKED! IT WORKED!! EUREKA!!! The purple haze is gone. Thanks guys. I set the direct show to the top of the list followed by TMPGEnc project file reader.
No more purple haze!!! -
This is great advice and I have downloaded the plug-ins. I was wondering, I have the latest tmpgenc (2.5x) and you have the option to give the plug-in a priority number. Yes, I have put the "Direct..." at the top, but do I give it a number like 70, or 10, or does it make a difference. Also, what priority number does the "Tmpgenc..." plug-in get?
