  1. I made a test svcd to see if my standalone dvd player would play it
and it plays the video nicely

tho i have the problem that the audio sticks then continues every 20-30secs of play

is there a certain bitrate i should use for the audio?

adding this since i didn't mention it
used tmpgenc and the svcd (ntsc film) template
didn't change anything except for the motion search
    so it's 224kbits for audio

Your video bitrate is film 24 or 23.97 fps.

My players doesn't like that rate it makes the audio jerk every 10 seconds or so.

At 29.97 its perfect but the filesize increases. Sad to say I tried every trick, its the only thing that fixed it for me. I saw a number of others had the same problem and seem to have done the same.

Funny how what may appear to be a video bitrate issue would affect sound. Truth is one thing I meant to try but never did is to max the audio bitrate to 384 (or something like that) and leave the video at 23.97. It was just a random thought but I never got around to trying it.
