  1. Hi all

I am trying to burn a file less than 80 minutes on a 700 Mb CD but I often get an error that says:

  2. "17:56:30 #16 mmc -1013 File Writer.cpp, Line 308
    Buffer underrun"

If your drive supports Burn-Proof (or similar BU protection), check the box in Nero to enable it. Buffer Underruns = coasters. If your drive does not support any BU scheme, get one that does.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Can you tell me where to find this check box ?

I have looked but I haven´t found it yet.

  4. Let's go at it this way:

What is the brand and model number of your CD Burner?

  5. Lower your burn speed until you no longer underrun your buffer.

  6. I also have a Burning problem with nero ..... When I try to burn something, it starts the process gets a little way in then comes up with a "DMA target error" (or something like that..) and says burn failed. That disc is then unusable ..... If I then put in another disc (same brand/type) and hit the burn button again (having changed NONE of the settings) It will complete the task with no problems !!! (and this happens EVERY single time) Any ideas ??

I did wonder if there is a "recomended" connection setup, currently.
Primary Master = HDD (UDMA mode 5(ATA100)) Slave = none
    Secondry Master= DVD-ROM(ATA33) Slave = Lite-OnCDR/RW (ATA33)

    FYI :
AMD XP1600 cpu, Win 98, 512MB ddr ram. Nero ver 5.5.5.6
Always trying something new .... Always failing miserably !!

  7. :edit: misread your post, nevermind

try new ribbon cables, make sure you have UDMA enabled

You must have an agonizingly slow machine, if you cannot burn at 300kbps without buffer underruns. You have to stop executing ALL processes EXCEPT NERO for your machine. This means no movies, no games, no nothing... simply start NERO and walk-away for the time it takes to burn.

From the error messages, it appears that you are trying to copy a CD from one reader to the burner WITHOUT going through the HD. Copy the source to the HD first, then burn from the HD. Slow machines cannot do this (as you were warned by NERO before you started) without a high probability of BUFFER UNDERRUNS (remember these?).
