    i recently made a shrek VCD which the picture quality is OK but I get a single tick noise about every second. I have treid cleaning the CD.

    As you didn't specify how you made this VCD it's difficult to help. If you made it in TMPGEnc and used as video and audio source file the same avi, mpeg or divX, then that is probably the reason. TMPGEnc produces a better sound if you split the audio from the video feed.
