When making VCD's or SVCD's with Nero, they are s-t-r-e-c-h-e-d rather than the widescreen format of the original. The result is a full screen distorted version of the original. Is there any way to keep my wide screen videos wide screen. Adjusting them on my dvd player doesn't work.

Yes. Use TMPGEnc to encode, and Nero to burn. 8)

  4. Nero is terrible for *encoding* (s)VCDs. For burning, it's my bestest friend.

I agree with the above post---start with TMPGenc. It's easy, and gives you good quality and speed.

Once you're more familiar with the process (and save up the cash), you may want to move to CCE. It's blazingly fast, and what I use exclusively now in conjunction with DVD2SVCD and FitCD.

I can't recommend the combo in the previous paragraph enough. Since I've started using the three, I've had nothing but happy, happy results.

People also get happy, happy results once they learn to use TMPGEnc's CQ mode properly. 8) http://www.svcd.cc/index.htm is a good place to learn how.

  6. Are you saying that dvd2svcd doesn't do CQ properly?

No, I'm saying that you don't need CCE for excellent results.
