I want to make a VCD of TV shows captures. and have chapter points at the same place as the Ads are. So far I have made each segment of the TV show or movie a separate MPEG segement, but now I would like to make it a single MPEG segment with true chapters.
I checked the guide and all I read on chapters refered to using the same chapters from DVD rips. I want to make my own entry points. I have been using VCDEasy for my authoring so far so could someone give mw some tips on how to manually add chapters using VCDEasy

what i do is, load up tmpgenc, go to mpeg tools, merge and cut..
then select the mpeg you want, click the "edit" button, and play the mpeg. you can use the features in there to display the times where you want to change chapters.
i found each point i wanted to make a chapter at, then typed it out in notepad. once you've got the list in notepad you can just copy it and then paste it into vcdeasy.

Alternatively, you could load the MPEG with VirtualDub to find the exact framenumber (not that you can actually reference chapters to the exact frame of course... it will depend where your sequence headers are).
Then, you can manually set chapters with VCDImager as so: http://www.vcdimager.org/guides/chapters.html
If you use VCDEasy, it is a GUI to VCDImager and it may be easier to use for the beginner / novice.

OK Thanks Michael and Geek Rocke
I'm trying to manuallly add the chapters, using VCD Easy. I got the times from Vitural Dubb. But I can't seam to get VCDasy to accept my entry points.
I used Geek Rock's idea and typed in my entry times as folows into notepad and copied them to the clipboard.
Chapter 1 = 00:00:00:30
Chapter 2 = 00:19:04:68
Chapter 3 = 00:29:44:46
I want to VCDEasy and loaded up my MPEG (part one of Top Gun) then went to the chapters tab. (It says in red print that the number of possibile entry points is one, Why is this).
I right clicked on the white pane on the left of the window and I had three choices. If I picked Past it gave an error statting that one or more non valid entry points.
If I pick paste Chapter Extracter Raw It goes into another window and my entry points are in the left pane of the window. I click on the double arrow icon and they also appear in the right pane. I then click OK the program goes back to the previous window but my entry points don't fill in.
Can anybody help me or tell my what I'm doing wrong.

be careful with your typing. VCDeasy needs the numbers to be in this format:
0:00:00.000
NOT 0:00:00:00
so your chapters will be..
Chapter 1 = 00:00:00.300
Chapter 2 = 00:19:04.680
Chapter 3 = 00:29:44.460
hope that was of some help

Ok I'm sure I'm Doing something wrong.
This is what I first tried to paste into VCD Easy:
Chapter 1 = 00:00:00:30
Chapter 2 = 00:19:04:68
Chapter 3 = 00:29:44:46
This brought up the Import Chapters Window, but when I clicked OK it did not take the Chapters.
I took Geek Rock Suggestion and tried this
Chapter 1 = 00:00:00.300
Chapter 2 = 00:19:04.680
Chapter 3 = 00:29:44.460
When I tried to pase this it wouldn't even bring up the Import Chapters Window.
Also I tried to put chapters into a DVD Rip last night. Using Chapter Extracter Pasted the Raw Data into VCD Easy but I don't think it took it it.
I'm going to try and burn it now but I looked at the XML file and it don't look like the Chapters are defined. Also why does it say in red print that the number of possibile entry points is one in VCD Easy.

oops, sorry, my mistake!
the actual format should be
0:00:00.000
and not
00:00:00.000
try pasting this in..
0:00:00.300
0:19:04.680
0:29:44.460
sorry for any confusion i caused there..

I also had this same problem. VCDEasy would tell me I only had one possible entry point. If you are using TMPGEnc, go to the settings page, then GOP tab. One of the entries is 'Output Interval of sequence header'. Mine was set to 0, that's why I had the problem. I changed it to 1, and voila, it worked!
