  1. I've been burning VCD's of TV shows and the like for a couple of months now. I capture with the ATI MMC and burn with Easy CD, and there have been no problems at all. It was everything tht I wanted.

Recently, I decided that I wanted to do some minor editing (nixing commercials, dividing movies into two parts), so I bought ULEAD Media Studio Pro6. Everything works with their Video Editor 6.0 until I try to save as a new mpeg.

When I try to save the new mpeg via FILE-CREATE-VIDEO FILE, it immediately starts converting. The problem is that it converts video AND audio at 1X, which not only takes twice as long, but the product is twice as slow as normal. The file literally looks like poor quality slow motion. The file views like this as its being created, when I play back through a file player, and when I burn it to VCD.

As I stated before, I have had no other problems until I started working with the ULEAD Video Editor software. All I want is to cut a two hour program in half and chop some commercials .

I've used the search engine until I couldn't type anymore, but I didn't see anyone else with this problem. If the solutions are on another post, please post a link. From what I've read, there are some folks on this board that seem to have a great mind for this, so I'm certain that I've come to the right place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I use TEMPEng (Free, find it in the tools area). You can select mpg tools from the file menu. Then choose the Cut tab. Add your mpg and then edit it to select the first part you want. Then add your mpg again and edit the second one to select the second part you want. Do this for every part you want to keep. When you hit the run button it goes very fast and does the whole thing in a minute or two.

This is very easy even if it sounds complicated. I wish the slider was better so that you could select the exact frame you want to begin/end on but it is adequate.
