I just did a cap of a Marx brothers movie form Laserdisc. Although, the capture looks great I wanted to 'clean' up the picture a bit. Using Virtualdub, I have tried a number of smoothers, and noise reduction plugins but they seem to create more problems than solve. Could someone give me some exact recommendations for cleaning up an old black and white movie from laserdisc (from not a great print)? If a picture would help I can upload. Thanks[/code]

Not much you can do, the filters may improve some parts, but then make a mess of others. If the final output is going to be a VCD, maybe you should convert it as it is, it may look a lot better when played on a DVD player/TV

You can always import it to photoshop and clean it up frame by frame. of course this would take weeks and weeks.
