    Hi,

I am capturing using the HUFFYUV codec and am having problems converting this file into an MPEG 2 file in TMPEGEnc. I have tried using Dagaar's audio drift guide but to no avail. Whenever I load the HUFFYUV avi in (as an avs file) for the video and the avi file as the audio, the audio stops halfway through the finished mpeg 2 file. I have tried saving the audio as a seperate wav file and selecting this as the audio, the audio then starts in synch but is way off at the end of the file. I am using toolame as an external audio processor for TMPEGEnc.

What is best to use for converting HUFFYUV files ? I have searched the guides but none mention this codec. They seem to think that these files can be loaded straight into TMPEGEnc but I have found that it is unsupported.

Anyone have a good way to convert from HUFFYUV to SVCD ?

  2. Hi

try to extract the sound from your AVI file as wav-file. Check wether your wav file exceeds 2GB or not. If so, this is propably your problem.

Already tried removing the audio as a wav and it doesn't exceed 2GB (it is only 250 MB). It is when i try this that I get the synch problems

    Thanks anyway

  4. Your problem is not with Hyffyuv. I use it all the time and experience no difficulties. Assuming the Huffyuv codec is installed (which it has to be to capture using it).

    Questions

    1. how do you capture your source AVI file. If you use VirtualDub do you select the option to lock audio to video? I have had problems like your if I do not select this.
    2. does the AVI file play ok using a media player.
    3. Does TMPGEnc report an error - you mention unsupported?. TMPGEnc happily uses Huffyuv encoded AVIs. You may need to change the VFAPI plug-in priority if the AVI exceeds 2Gb in length.

Thanks for your reply, in answer

    1. Yes I lock the audio to the video

    2. YEs the HUFFYUV avi plays fine in WMP

    3. Yes it says "file not recognised or unsupported type". I will try to increase the priority

    Thanks

I tried increasing the priority of both "AVI VFW compatibility reader" and "AVI2(OpenDML) File reader". TMPEGEnc now loads HUFFYUV avi files no problem, however the final encoded file has no video and seems to be very small. It takes the normal time to encode but instead of 350 MB which I usually get, the file is now only 87 MB and has OK audio but a plain black screen. Is there another priority I need to change.

Please help as I am so close now

    Thanks

  7. In VFAPI try my settings
    Open DML priority = 1
    AVI VFW and Quicktime -1
    all others 0

I can convert to VCD fine with these. Otherwise it is something in your other settings.
