  1. I MUST upgrade from my present POS Toshiba drive that rips at 1-1.6x speed...it is a NIGHTMOARE. Does anyone have any info about this drive? It is onsale at Tigerdirect for $20 after rebate and I'll pick one up if it actually IS an upgrade. HELP!

  2. I bought an Artec 16x from Staples 3 or 4 months ago, sorry to say it already refuses to play or rip dvds. Still works fine for cds, but not dvd.
    Good luck.

  3. Thank you so much for the tip. I would have bought it and lived to regret it. I wonder if everyone has such a bad experience....I always hate it when "you get what you pay for" proves true.

  4. I would recommend the Lite-On 16x drive. I have had mine about a month and it works great. You can get one for around $40. I got mine here:

Newegg is a good company to do bussiness with. Good luck!

  5. I've had the Artec for $20 for 2 days and it seems to be working fine with dvd's, is even recognized by dvd to vcd programs that don't seem to work so well.
