Doesn't someone make a camcorder that records to DVD now? What format is it, -R or +R? It would be a bummer to buy a new camcorder that burns DVDs and not be able to play them in your set top DVD player - kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

i saw an advert for a dvd camera (hitachi i believe) and it uses mini dvd-r's. dvd-r's play in about 70% of dvd players but of the 5 i own only 2 will play them- my panasonic lv60(but it's a region 1 and i live in a region 2 country) and my pioneer 104. so for the time being, if i make backups of dvd's i can only watch them on my pc. shit or what?

  3. Panasonic VDR-M10 is a dvd camcorder and records on 8 cm DVD-RAM disc. However it has only S-video output and no i-link or composite video.
IMO it is defeating its digital purpose by not be able to download digital to digital.
It has disc navigation and may go directly to the scene without searching like with tapes.
I have this camera and just recently I have on order the Panasonic E20
recorder/player that I will use to transfer the footage to -R disc by recording in S-video.
I am looking for technique that I could record digital to digital.
The Pioneer DVR-7000 has an ilink input, but again the camcorder has no digital output.
