  1. OK, so I have a video source; a DVD Rip to be more exact. Like most DVD Rips, when you open it up in VirtualDub, you usually don't see the black bars.

Now, this is a foreign film, and I got the subtitles from some website. I forgot the URL.

Anyway, I'm using VobSub to multiplex the Video and the Subtitles together. But I want these subtitles to be in the bottom black bars, that are NOT there.

I want to know how to put in those black bars so that I can put in the subtitles in the the bottom black bar.

    Thanks in advance.

By the time you have added boarders, resized it might be better just to add them on top of the movie, as any alteration to the original movie will make it smaller anyway.

  3. You can use avisynth, the mpeg2 plugin, and addborders(0,whatever,0,anotherwhatever) to have top borders of whatever and bottom borders of anotherwhatever. Keep in mind, as kingjohn said, you're going to have to make the video smaller... which is not good. Are you trying to make it a (s)vcd or DVD?

  4. I'm making a VCD. I guess I'll just try it out, and see if I like what I see. If I don't then I don't have a problem with the subs right on top of the video.
