  1. I recieved my Panasonic DVD RP91 which has a decoder for DTS and Dolby. Currently it is connected to an old Denon amplifier that is OK but does not have the digital input and the jack for the loudspeakers are those clips... Not a real jack... I hope you know what I mean. I think the are called banana plugs or something... and those I have are thin threads.

I also have two normal Yamaha speakers that are nothing special at all and it sounds OK but I would like to upgrade.

Now, I DO NOT want to buy an entire package with amplifier and speakers included. And my amplifier I would like to have the the real jack for the speakers since I am planning on buying pretty good cable, not just threads.

I don't know if it makes big difference between a 2.1 system or a 5.1 but I think a 2.1 would be enough for me of even only 2 speakers! I am planning to listen to music too and I am not a big fan of a lot of bass such as Cervin Wega speakers since I mainly listen to acoustic music.

The amplifier does not need to have the decoder built in either obviously since the DVD player already has that.

I am quite a fan of B&W speakers due to their Kevlan bass material which is very good.

Does anyone have any suggestion for me? What do I buy? Where do I look for it? I live in NYC. I understand price is important here, but let's say what is the cheapest high quality stuff I can get?

    Thanks

First off i think you are in the wrong place.

But all i can suggest, seeing how you live in the US, is to go to the best buy website or circuit city website,i dont exactly know what else you have there, but you should go to there website and look around for an amp at a cheap price.

    Thats all i can suggest.

Keep tuned because there might be a couple of doods here who might be able to help you out.

Till t hen you should do some research, if you have not already.

Thats all. Im not trying to boot you out or nothing. Just trying to help you get the info you need. Thats the point of a forum.
