I am having a LG DR197 DVD recorder, and a Humax Sat receiver. Problem is that the sat receiver only has a scart exit, how can I connect this to my LG so I can record from sattelite ?

Uh, according to a quick web search (eg. see "http://www.shopping.com/xPF-LG-DR197") , the LG DR197 has a SCART input, so all you need is a SCART cable.

It can also record from a RGB source, so an "RGB-enabled" SCART cable would give you the best possible recording quality (you may have to enable RGB output in your sat boxs Video/Display preferences screen).

Thanks for the answer. Indeed, I could connect the scart cable to the hum, scart connection for a component. It works BUT...there is no sound. Also tried with the RGB cable, same result. Any other suggestions are welcome ! The strange thing is that A) I did it 1 year ago, but don't remember how and B) all programms say MONO.... and C) I did a test recording where the sound is also missing. However when I switch off the DVD recorder, the sound is back.

  4. Hi,

you can try to use this device:

You plug it on the scart exit or your satellite receiver and then connect your tv and dvd recorder to the device like this.

Thanks all, it works now. I did some research on the DVD recorder, it was setup on the wrong channel.... But thanks to this forum I solved it, and I also could make the player region free !!!!
