Is the ATI TV Wonder a decent card to use for watching video games on the computer monitor? If not, any other recommendations?

Still looking for some comments. My goal is to avoid buying a TV set for my son who is going to college. If the TV Wonder would work well, then he wouldn't need a separate TV.

    Thanks for any comments.

  3. You could go online and get one of those VGA adaptors that lets you use your TV to view anykind of video source that can be used. It would be alot easier than having to install a new part in the computer.

"Decent" being the key word then I would say yes,for the features it is a good buy.

    OptimusPrime22,

I basically need the reverse of what you're referring to, I have no TV but a video source.

    Moviegeek,

I am really looking for practical experience that the games would look fine on the monitor. He has no need to capture them or anything else. If I use this approach, will he be swearing at me for not just buying a TV set?

  6. Since he won't need to cap anything then the VGA device is your best bet in my opinion for now. The quality is very good and he can also hook up a VCR to it if he happens to get one(or DVD player) He can use the monitor as a viewing screen for anything with a video output on it. Monitors tend to have a higher resolution so he will be seeing the games in the best quality as well. If your interested I will dig up the link of one place that sells them for a good price. Take care.
