  1. This is odd as I finally got my SVCD's working on Philips DVD711 after I started to encode using Ligos LSX-LE.

Now these same disks won't ff or rew on Yelo 800 but they work fine on Philips 711. I burn everything using Nero 5.5.x.x.

    What gives?

Nero doesn't make a Scandata.dat file for SVCD's. Apparently your Philips doesn't need this file to FF/FREW and your Yelo does. Do a search in this forum using keyword "Scandata.dat" - you'll find a few solutions how to either use a different software (for example VCDImagerGUI) or making the file yourself.

  3. Thanks very much Aldus, you saved my day.

On the other hand, I'm now confused about Nero. Why can't it provide the necessary and correct scandata.dat information?

Clearly this information is used by the player to calculate the lenght of the track and to display the remaining playtime.

Without this information the resulting SVCD is crippled if you ask me even if ff and rew works. I want to see the remaining playtime.

    Why can't Nero provide this?

As I mentioned before some players don't need this SCANDATA.DAT. I presume the developers at Nero have these same SVCD players, as it clearly states in the help files for Nero, that a SCANDATA.DAT file is only necessary for VCD's - perhaps a few emails to them from people who need this extra file would convince them?
