  1. I tried alot of setting on TMPEnc to encode AVI file to mpeg-1 before burn it to VCD including downloaded template with the so-called "perfect" for making vcd. Finally, I found article telling that TMPGEnc 12a was the best for encoding VCD and DVD. Since the 12a version was released sometime in year 2000(a year before WinXP released), I wonder whether the 12a version is compatible in Winxp as if it use in w98se???
Seems that the VCD looks TERRIBLE or am I using the wrong setting???

  3. TMPGEnc 12a setting

    Stream Type: MPEG-1
    Size:352x288
    Aspect ratio:4:3 625 line (PAL)
    Frame rate: 25 FPS
    Rate Control Mode: Constant Bitrate(CBR)
    Bitrate: 1150 kbit/s
    Motion search accuracy: High quality
    Video source type: Non-intelaced
Field Order: Even field first (field order A)
Source aspect ratio: 4:3 625 line (PAL)
    Image posiyioning method: Center

That's all! All setting were leaved to its default setting.

The source file were captured using VirtualDub 1.4.10 with resolution 352x288, huffyuv codec configured to predict median(best). Encoded file then burned to VCD using Nero using wizard for making a compliant VCD.

  4. Nothing seems wrong with your settings. How exactly is the
final movie horrible? Do you see artifacts like lines, chewed mice
teeth effect, jerky movement, flickering ??

The captured AVI could also be the problem..what does vdub say
    about your avi?

  5. Nothing. Everything looks well with Windows Media Player(for AVI file), but then it's look choopy and jerky after burn to VCD format while playing on TV monitor.

I did alot of surfing on Net and from there trying every step recommended AND FINALLY find my final VCD looks quite good by using filters etc etc.....BUT, one thing makes me wonder..????......While dragging the MPEG-1 file on Nero Panel for making VCD, Nero keep telling me that "stream encoding which is invalid for [super] video=cd" and offer me an option to re-encode the file. Selecting the option then produced VCD that have sound MUCH slower then it should be.

Did I'm doing anything wrong with any setting whether with VirtualDub or TMPGEnc??? I'm capturing audio to this format: CD Quality, 44100 Hz, 192 kbit/s....
