  1. Can someone please help me. I have created many SVCDs without problem, but now need to get the MPEG file off of an SVCD to re-edit withing Adobe Premiere.

For some reason, Premiere can not read the MPG file contained on the SVCD. I have tried to multiplex the stream and premiere still can not read the file.

Is there a utility that will allow me to re-convert the MPEG file on an SVCD back to a standard MPEG2 as created in TMPGEnc.

Many thanks for any assistance you can provide, as I have spent hours trying to figure this out.

You can try to create a standard MPeg2 file through TMPGEnc.

    Open TMPGEnc
    click on file
    Click on Mpeg tools
    Go to "Merge and Cut"
    Select as type: Mpeg2 program
Click on add and load your SVCD mpeg2 file
Select an output name and output folder.
    Click on run.

wait a few minutes (depents on your PC, so don't get paniced when it takes longer than a few minutes)

  3. I think what mancuj1 is actually asking is how to extract an mpg file from an SVCD disk (correct me if I am wrong). Personally I use ISOBUSTER for this kind of job (google search will find it for you). Just open the CD in isobuster, navigate to the mpegav directory. Right click the AVSEQxx.mpg file and select 'extract but filter only M2F2 MPEG frames'. Let it run and you should have a perfectly valid mpeg program stream that will be acceptable to any other program that can open mpeg-2 files.

    Hope this helps

  4. Thank you very much for your replies thusfar. I should have been more clear in my initial post and I apologize.

Basically I am using Adobe Premiere and I want to archive my AVI files off to DVD+R. The problem is that Premiere can not import MPEG2 files only AVI files.

I guess my question comes down to this. How can I convert an MPEG2 video (720x480, 29.97fps, 4000kbps) to an AVI file that Premiere can import.

I have read numerous posts in this forum about doing a conversion, but nothing seems to work. I have used DVD2AVI but get video full of static.
