  1. Hello, thanks for all the good info, would never have made it this far without the forum archives and pages on this site.

My problem is when I convert avi movies to mpeg on tmpgenc, nero gives me an error when I try to burn the cdr.

I am trying to convert to vcd or super vcd for my stand alone dvd player.
    The error message reads:

1)stream in coding invalid for super vcd. (2) invalid video stream 60 fps/ 352x240 (3)invalid audio 48000hz,2 channels

nero gave me the option to ignore the standard and burn anyway ,which I tried.

The sound was good on my stand aloone dvd player, but the picture appeared fuzzy, and sometimes,I would get green squares throughout the screen,or colored squares pretty bad.

Heres how I had some of my tmpgenc settings, let me know if you need others.

under video: stream type: mpeg1 video

    size :352x 240

    aspect ratio:4:3 525 line(ntsc)

frame rate: 60 fps, also tried 29.97,still got the squares and fuzzy picture

    rate control mode:automatic vbr(cq vbr)

    bite rate:1150

    vbv buffer size:40

motion search precission: high quality very slow

    under advance tab-----

video sourc type: non interlace progressive

field order:top field first field a

    source aspect ratio:4:3 525 line(ntsc 704x480)

video arrange mode:full screen keep aspect ratio

In all other choices,I checked ghost reduction, hoping it would help the fuzziness

under gop structure:the only thing I did was, checked detect scene change.

    under quantize matrix:

I checked oputput yuv data as basic ycbcr not ccir601,I also checked soften block noise, intra block 35 non intra block 35

under audio: stteam type is mpeg 1 audio layer 1

    sample freq. 48000 hz

    channel mode stereo

    bite rate 192 kbs
nothiing else checked emphysis is none

under system stream type is mpeg1 video cd.

I read all the settings in the columns to the left here and tried to set it up the right way.

I dont know a whole lot about htis, even in reading everything,I triend to set it all up.

I am just trying to get these files converted for my stand alone dvd,it can play vcd and super vcd no problem,to be honest with you Im not sure what one Im trying to burn.

In nero,I just went in through my wizard to video cd,didnt change anything just dropped the file in andf hit burn.

Any suggestions are appreciated, sorry if this is to long and to much info.

    Thanks

When you use TMPGEnc, you need to hit the "Load" button and open up a VCD template, then TMPGEnc will make the mpeg to fully comply. The templates are located inside the template folder in TMPGEnc

Nero told you the audio was 48.000 when it should be 44.1Khz for a VCD

    Video-CD PAL (MPEG-1 352x288 25fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)
    Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    Super Video-CD PAL (MPEG-2 480x576 25fps CBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)
    Super Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-2 480x480 29.97fps CBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)
