  1. I'm posting here as I don't know if it's a video or audio related problem.

I tried to write two different video files, and two times i got the same error. I thought maybe there is not enough capacity, so I tried to write them separately, so I started converting one of the two, but I also got an error.

The error that i get is this:

    Code:
    *********************************************************
    ******************* Encoding Video 0 ********************
    *********************************************************

I'm using the "Balance" preset from the HC Options in FAVC, and for audio AC3, Retain if Present, Aften, 224 AC3 Bitrate

One of the two files that I used in both situations is:
    Video: Xvid 704x300 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz stereo 96Kbps [Audio]

I found this topic, but the problem is that in the output file, there is no sound...

I stopped using FAVC a while back when the last couple of versions seemed to regress the quality, and then development stopped. I now use AVStoDVD, which uses the same encoder, offers more features, and is actively developed. The author tends to visit these forums regularly to answer queries and take feedback.

I suggest you give it a go instead.

  3. Cool, it worked ok. Thanks!

Why does it take the whole dvd this .avi 645MB? Because of the quality settings?

Because mpeg-2 does not compress as much as mpeg-4 (Divx/Xvid/H.264 depending on the Part). In order to maintain the basic quality that your source file has requires that the mpeg-2 file be at least 3 - 4 times the size. Rather than quibble over a few hundred MB, these converters usually target filling the disc and use the highest bitrate they can.
