What, exactly, are you asking? Please rephrase your question.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

basically i need to know what kind of plugs does it have on the two sides, so i can go and buy it.
are we clear this time? hope so...

  4. Does what have the same plugs, please, we aren't mindreaders.
I assume you want a cable to connect an item to something else.
look at the two items in question, look at the sockets and get a cable with a plug on each end to fit.

you ask an impossible question, there are umpteen plugs and sockets out there.
go to your dealer if you don`t understand the various plugs etc, he will help you.
    sorry.
Have a nice day. thank you.

i just thought it was some kind of "standard name" for the tool used to connect the dvd player with the pc, so i didn't secify it, sorry.
anyway, i can't figure out which socket of my pioneer dv-636d should i use, so this was simply my question.

Now then no need to take the Mickey, You need to help out a little more here.

The socket will be marked "use this for your PC connection" then you can buy a standard lead which is marked Standard lead, for use with "use this for your PC connection"

Sometimes know as... Standard lead, RCA, Phono, Scart, Petratel or ask for one that plugs into the hole in your DVD player.

  8. do you mean to connect your settop dvd payer to your comp? then if so you need a capture card.
If it's a dvd-rom drive, you probably need a ide wire but i'd go to a computer technician if your not sure how to do that

What the heck has this got to do with your original post ?, now your talking about a region hack, nothing to do with leads or downloading tool.

it has to do with my original post that i can't hack my stupid player without ******* his firmware up, and i can't do this without connecting the player with my pc, and i can't do this without this mysthical "download tool" (actually a cable...). so, if someone can tell me how is this made...

  17. OK, let's all take a deep breath here. What exactly are you trying to accomplish, and what needs to be hooked up to what in order to complete this still-mythical task? Give us brands and types of hardware involved.

you seem the kindest person on this forum
anyway... here i'm trying to hack my stand-alone dvd player pioneer dv-636d, which should be both region and macrovision hackable.
to do this, i heard that i can only flash the firmware again, so i need a cable to connect my pc and the player.
the question is: how is this cable made? where is ment to be connected? what kind of plugs does it have on its sides?
    thanx

Now we're getting closer. You have to open the DVD players cabinet, extract the DVD Drive (should be connected to the player with standard IDE cable and power cable). If not, forget the whole thing.
So, after extracting, connect the IDE plug to your PC's IDE connector, connect the power cable to the power plug and start the computer.
Next or preferable first, go to the internet and download the region free FW for the drive.Install the new FW to the DVD drive.
Normally the FW + loader is to be put on an bootable floppy disk.

But weren't you told, that flashing a BIOS (any BIOS without backup), will be extremly dangerous? If there is some trafic on the IDE while flashing, something could get wrong and your drive ends up not working anymore.
OK, you extracted the drive: what model is the drive ? (should be seen on the screen when booting)

i was, but it is a dvd-rom drive, and windows is not supposed to use it when it's empty...

So you did disable the CD/DVD ROM check function? And no other device is on the IDE bus at the same time ?

So how was it connected inside the player ? WHat kind of cable (how many connect pins/plugs ?

actually there is my burner set as slave, but it was empty too... why do people make flashing appz for windows, if there are so many problems?

it was still connected with a flat cable, but about a third thinner than our famous ide cables...

I understand what you mean.So how in the first place did you connect the drive to your PC (if you ever did)?
Let me ask a question: what do you want to accomplish with the whole action? If you want to have a region free DVD player just get one of the cheaper ones, the CyberHome ADL528 for 80-100 Euro ist quite good and can definitly play all DVDs (I own one of these).

considered its strange plug, i haven't connected it to my pc, and actually i don't think i want to... if there's another optin, then let me know; if there isn't... well, **** it! i won't ever watch region 1,3,4,5 and 6 discs, and i will never have them on a videotape.

about the mission objectives: i don't think i can get much more, can i? i would just like to have the moron region and macrovision free...
