I'm currently using WinDVD4 for Mpeg2 playback on my computer. I converted an NTSC interlaced source to a lower bitrate in Tmpeg and selected "bottom field" for the source interlacing. When I played back the stream on the computer it looks fine but when I played it back on my stand alone it was all jittery (the wrong field was selected for the source.) After I changed the source field and reencoded, playback on the computer looked fine and playback on the stand alone looked fine. My question is: Are software decoders progressive or am I just missing something? Are there any non-progressive software decoders?
