Hello everyone,
I've got some .avi-files which are reported as progressive by MPEG4Modifier and GSpot. Avisynth-test (AssumeTFF/BFF, SeparateFields..) shows the files to be interlaced, with field order "TFF" (as does TMPEnc's Project Wizard).
My problem: on my standalone they tend to play back fine, but every now and then the device suddenly produces flickering, e.g. after I have paused the movie for a short brake, fast reversed it, jumped back/forward with time-seek function, etc.
I usually am able to remedy this by either going into 'setup'-menu and back (or some such tricks), but I would rather be able to just watch them seemlessly/flawlessly.
Since the files are reported to be progressive, I presume the device is getting the wrong signals (or something) and therefore flickering occurs - I tested a clip captured interlaced from analogue source, XViD-flag set to "interlaced" and MPEG4Modifier reports this - playback on the same device is just fine.
I know that MPEG4Modifier allows to change field order, but these files are reported... (s.a.)![]()
Has anyone got any suggestions? Could I change the flag somehow to "interlaced" without re-encoding?
Thanks for any help!![]()

Is no one there to help with this matter?
Is it entirley device-dependent?
Please help! Thanks. -
I'm not aware of any program that can change the interlace flags in a Divx/Xvid AVI file. Even if the you do manage to set it the correct field order your player will likely ignore it.
