Hi everybody:
I´m having an issue which I thought you may be able to help me solve.
I have a Sony CRX145E rewriter. I´ve never had any problems at all, either with CD-Rs or CD-RWs. However, I´ve always used 650Mb. CD-RWs and last week I bought online a box of 10 Memorex 700 Mb. CD-RWs. Even when the maximum speed of my rewriter is 4x for CD-RWs, the price for the 12x CD-RWs was the same as the 4x, so I bought those thinking I may get more quality.
The problem is that I can´t burn anything on them. I´ve tried burning two different CD-RWs with Nero, CloneCD and even the Windows XP utility and I was totally unable to burn absolutely anything. I even tried to ERASE the CD-RWs first, just in case, but Nero won´t even be able to finish formatting![]()
The error message I get every time is: MEDIUM IS NOT COMPATIBLE.
Sorry for the large explanation, but any help would be apreciated.
Thanks. Sergio.

Memorex CD-RW media is crap. I cannot do much with them on any of the writers that I have. If you do get them to work you might only get two or three writes out of them before they tank on you. Use them for Skeet practice.

My first CD burner was a Memorex 4X.. I was able to use CD-R and CD-RW brands indiscriminantly. Burned mostly audio CD's. This year, bought the Sony CRX-175E 24 X. I am now mostly doing DAO SVCD's ,but also the occasional file and audio CD. I have found that I get "power calibration error" with CD-R from Memorex , Philips and TDK's that say made in Taiwan. I have had zero problems 100 + burns using Fuji and TDK ( say made in Japan on spindle cake box). These latter two are made by Taiyo Yden, one of the highest quality CD-R manufacturers.

Thanks guys.
I also found some more info on another post and have decided to send this Memorex box back. The shop will exchange them for a box of Intenso 4x and I hope my problems will be solved.
In any case, I´ll let you know once I try those Intenso. -
It isn't your burner, it is the brand of RWs that you bought. Yesterday I switched from the Memorex 650 to the 700 because the place here was out fo 650 plats and now the 700s are crap! They burn horrible! Even my laptop's dvd player wouldn't play it right, if at all and most of the time there was no sound.
If you come across any other brands that work, please let me know. The memorex 650 plats seem to be fair but only for afew burns. the 700s are just plain crap.
Again, if you know any that I could get in the states, maybe from a Staples store let me know.

The problem isn't the burner or the media. It is that the 12X media you bought is HIGH SPEED RW and your burner only support normal speed (up to 4X) RW media.
No matter the quality of the media, the HIGH SPEED RW media will never work on your CD-RW burner. -
Hi everybody:
As promised, I´d like to let you know how things are going.
I received today the new box of Intenso CDs. I´ve used 5 of them already and only one so far is non-useable. It´s a better ratio than the Memorex, that´s for sure.
So you were right, my burner is fine, and Memorex are shite.
Thanks to all who helped.

Yep, but as the Intenso are 4x I cannot actually check that it is a high speed problem as you say.
I am inclined to believe it though and I intend to steer away from high speed AND Memorex
