  3. Hi,
    I have a average bitrate of 3750.
    I set a 2 VBR min: 2000 max:8000.

I took the settings from here: http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0165394101/TMPGEnc_Template.html

can there be any other problem?

  4. yes, those rates are too high to read properly off CDR/RWs in DVD players. Because of physical limitations of the media & DVD drive in your player, miniDVDs for actual DVD player usage will be the same at which your SVCD level can be attained. This depends on the player. My player can handle bitrates as high as ~3300 kbps range before skipping. I would suggest doing some short CBR VCD/SVCD clips to what the max your plaer can handle before skipping. try 3000, 3500, 4000. And are you sure your player will take miniDVDs, only about 2% of player son the market will actually play miniDVD.

  5. Ok thanx!

I have a Denver DVD Player!
It plays everything - its amazing! (Also miniDVD)

So if i set my average to 3300, it should work?
    I am a real newbie!

  6. no your MAX should be whatever the max your player can handle. if that is ~3300, then that is your max. That is why I said do the short CBR encodes to see what that exact max level is for your player. Then your average bitrate should be for whatever quality/filesize level you desire.

  7. Now i got it!

    But I looked it up! I have a Denver DVD - 311.
It works up to 4000kbits/s, so my 3750 kbits could not be my problem!

    Any other ideas!

    Thanx! :P

have a average bitrate of 3750.
    I set a 2 VBR min: 2000 max:8000
No you are missing it. In your first scenario here, the max bitrate of 8000 is too high. If your palyer max's out at 4000, then your max can not be higher than 4000. In that case, your settings should be more like this

    min-avg-max = 300-3750-4000

A min value of 2000 is way to limiting on VBR, you should go lower to 300.
I would use CDRWs as a rule until you through completely testing the limts of your player.
