  1. hope some one can help with this
i have an old savage 4 card with tv out it has options for svhs and composite output. the card works fine except for the fact that i only get a black and white pic.
now on another tv i own the pic is colour so i know the card is fine what id like to know is does the tv have to be svhs compatable even if i have the video card switched to composite.

  2. This sounds like a NTSC/PAL mismatch somewhere between the card and the TV. The card is outputting one form of signal, the TV only accepts the other. The working TV must be multiformat and can handle both.

If I am right on this you have three options that I can see:

    Buy a new TV!

Buy a NTSC-Pal converter (or vice versa, whichever you need)

Buy a new TV out card which supports the correct format.

Maybe their is a software setting that can enable PAL output.

I am assuming you use a pal based system because of the french spelling of colour, which is common in Europe.

  5. Ive just had exactly the same problem and i got round it by attatching the video card to a vhs video then from that via coax leads to a tv and then it played in colour.
I too had all settings to pal and still black and white, but through the video first then colour.
Dont ask me why it just works!!!.

  7. I had a similar problem when I connected my TV card outputs to TV via SVHS cable, I used a SVHS to scart converter on the tv side, then I had to set the tv scart input to SVHS input before it showed colour. I did this by the on screen menu. Just a note their is no audio with SVHS, Separate audio cable is required. This may help if you want to try the SVHS way.
